Past Injuries & Surgeries: Was murdered in DTW when Riddick burned him with a flamethrower and Dick Devereaux ran him over with a truck.

Gimmick: Decorated deathmatch star. When he comes out in that leather jacket with a cigarette hanging from his lips and a steel chair over his shoulder, Kawamata has that big fight feel exuding from his pores. He's all about getting hit hard, fighting back, and dusting himself off with a smile over a cigarette and a few drinks. Still possesses that common man charm and his Kenta Kobashi levels of fighting spirit gives them something to vicariously live through. Even the most bitter and jaded smart mark asshole marks the fuck out when Kawamata is on the comeback. He loves working up the crowd and fans are known to hand him beers, which he'll either drink or pour on his own head.

Masatake Kawamata saunters from behind the curtain, carrying a steel chair wrapped in barbwire and gas-soaked rags over his right shoulder. Kawamata pumps his right hand in the air, opens the beer can with his thumb, and pours it in his mouth as pyro goes off all around him on stage for a solid five seconds. The explosions send the fans into a frenzy and Kawamata smashes the can on his forehead repeatedly, already drawing a trickle of blood. Billed Name: ___Relationship: ___
Pic Base: ___
Gimmick: Describe their persona in a few sentences.
While he is a good guy, Kawamata doesn't make it any secret at all that he believes deathmatches are truly anything goes. Will kick somebody in the balls in those matches. It's all about survival – just like an actual street fight. He's done stuff like that to people he even considers to be great friends in the business.
Finisher (Description): Shouten (Vertical Suplex Side Slam)
Set-up [Optional] (Description): Hanzoku Kougeki (“Rebel Strike.” It's a discus lariat, or a rolling lariat. Whatever you prefer to call it. This can either come from nowhere or get measured up before execution. Masatake could also set it up with a series of jabs to stun them, but that also makes him prone to telegraphing the move.)
Alternate Finisher [Optional] (Description): Kamagasaki Crash (Tiger Driver '91. He turns to this if Shouten isn't enough, making it the second in line for his finishers. He never does this before Shouten and it should only be kicked out of in huge moments. Shouten and even the Backslide have been kicked out of a few times, but the Kamagasaki Crash is the move that has to be protected.)
Alternate Set-up [Optional] (Description): A quick cutthroat gesture to the crowd if he has to pull them up to their feet.
Strengths:
1. Natural big fight feel that gets the fans on his side and can eventually rattle even the most composed opponents.
2. No fear or surrender. Dramatic comebacks.
3. Crazy enough to leave physical and mental scars with or without weapons. He's damn wicked, often smiling as he works up the crowd during his violence.
Weaknesses:
1. Still gets overzealous at times, causing him to crash and burn on a high risk attempt. Very ungraceful when he flies, but still a morbidly fascinating sight that can be quite poetic in the bigger bouts whether he lands the move or not.
2. If there isn't any belts or trophies at stake and it's standard rules, Kawamata might just get carried away should the match spill to the outside and into the crowd. That makes him prone to countouts or disqualifications. He's much more mindful when there's belts and trophies to win, so he won't get himself DQ'd, but he could still get counted out.
3. Not a very crisp in-ring performer. Nobody will confuse him for Ricky Steamboat.
Favorite Match Stipulation: Any deathmatch. The crazier, the better.
Favorite Weapon: Burning steel chair wrapped in barbwire.

Biography:
Once a docker and bartender in Osaka, this lovable blue collar punk rocker from the DTW Death Dojo has gone from underdog to someone who's normally considered a favorite – especially in deathmatches. Kawamata possesses an incredible tournament track record with trophies in both standard and ultraviolent competition. He's also collected a good number of titles in his career.
Kawamata is a frontman for a Tokyo-based punk band called The Enforcers, now lives in both Tokyo and Long Beach, and will soon open a punk/wrestling-themed bar and performance venue that's just a short walk from Korakuen Hall. Despite all this, Kawamata is still a known face in the Kansai region punk rock scene and is insanely over in Osaka – where the loudest wrestling fans in Japan happen to be. His face has been on a famous local billboard for the Hanshin Tigers pro baseball team.
He comes from Kamagasaki, which is an old place name for an area in Osaka that's known for being the biggest slum in Japan. We're talking Yakuza, crazy ex-Yakuza homeless people with missing fingers, a long history of riots (Kawamata was in the 24th one), and police brutality (which usually causes aforementioned riots and was why Kawamata and Hanako Takeuchi were in the 6-day 24th conflict in 2008). So yes, he does have the whole “gritty street background” thing going on for him.
Kawamata is part of the legendary Filth Parade faction. He's been with his girlfriend, Hanako Takeuchi, since they were both 12 – celebrating 15 years together at the time of this application.
