It had been a long time since Genevie Carlson had a chance to be on top. Since she had a chance to shine holding gold all by herself. It seemed a lifetime ago. One year in wrestling time might as well be a decade and well, she had missed out on two years. So you can imagine how long that timeline had seemed for her. She knew her spot in the main event was a controversial one. She knew people would speculate and try to discredit her place with it, but if there was one thing she was familiar with it was being controversial. For being hated for getting the opportunities others would literally die for. This was her comfort zone, and where she thrived most. Things were different now though. She would have to juggle motherhood and her career. Something that a lot of people would view as a disadvantage, and a weakness, but if there was anyone who was capable of showing them that it was neither? She was the one to do it.
Genevie smirked as she sat in a large ornate black and gold chair. It was in a rather large room with high top ceilings where a beautiful crystal chandelier hung in the center and illuminated the room brightly. The floors were beautifully finished hardwood and there was a white fur rug in the center of the room with a black and gold table that matched the furniture in the room. In fact everything about this room looked elaborate and fancy until you explored the floor more and saw the various amounts of children’s toys thrown around on the floor by children, and over in the corner a little baby boy slept in his swing soundly. She took once glance over to check on him again before she turned back and began to speak to the camera.
“It’s been two long years waiting for a moment like this to come again. Sitting on the sidelines watching people like my husband, and my best friends be top stars of the wrestling industry. Happy for them, being their number one cheerleader. Which was fine, because I was doing something equally accomplishing. Well for me anyways, being the badass mother that I have been but I couldn’t help but feel like it wasn’t enough.”
“I ended my career in 4CW on a loss. I shrugged it off as it didn’t matter but at the end of the day it did, it still does. That’s not the way I wanted to go out. Hell it’s not the way I’m going out. So I decided I was going to make a big comeback, and what company better than Union? Tons of my competition from 4CW came here and made names for themselves. Some even struggled here. That was all I needed to see to find out that Union was where I needed to go to prove myself. To show everyone I’m not done just yet. To show the world that Genevie Carlson isn’t finished with the Wrestling world yet.”
She stood up from her chair, letting her louis vuitton stilettos click on the floor as she bent down to start the task of picking up the toys from the floor to put them in a chest in another corner of the room. The truth of the matter was that Genevie had gone back and forth on whether or not to come back and have another run. Her kids always being the reason she leaned towards not coming back and also coming back, it was obvious what motivation won out in the end.
“You all thought that I was content with just motherhood, but from the moment I started my career I said I would be a World Champion caliber talent. I didn’t achieve that before motherhood but I can tell you that I will do it now. I have nothing to lose at this point and everything to gain. I’ve learned through experience, through struggles, pain, loss all of it. I’ve come out the other side of it stronger. Each time a better person than before. I left the industry feeling like a failure. Feeling like I didn’t measure up to my own hype, and then I realized something. Everything happens for a reason. At the time the only motivations I had was proving to myself I could do it and making my husband proud of me, and now? I have my beautiful and wonderful children to show them what a badass their mother really is.”
“I want them to see this and look back on this time as the time I fought for them. The time where I showed them that it doesn’t matter how much people kick you when you’re down, it doesn’t matter how many times you drop the ball, or if you walk away from the court for a while. That you can come back at any time and prove you belong. That you can prove that you’re the force to be reckoned with. That they can hit you with everything they have and you will still get back up and have the fire and the fight in you to hit them back harder. This isn’t about being friends or showing respect. It’s about a pecking order and my children are going to see that a Carlson is always at the top of the food chain”
The toys were picked up at this point and everything put in its place. She took another look back to the little boy asleep with a beaming smile full of pride and in that moment you could hear a loud thud followed by some giggles from a gleeful little girl. A man’s voice could be heard playing with the woman and it was enough to warm her soul. She closed her eyes and savored those sounds before slowly opening them again to put her attention back on the camera.
“I mean it’s pretty abundantly clear of that already, wouldn’t you say so? This is my first match with Union in a long time and already I’m the main event. While some of the roster is still struggling to get an opportunity at the top? I walk in the doors and immediately my presence alone gets me a title opportunity for the Trench War Championship. So I guess we are finally getting rid of the unification. That’s a bit disappointing for me but no matter. I have an understanding that holding that gold means that I can cash it in for the top prize. A very valuable asset indeed and only made better by the fact the holder of the Trench War Championship also holds the Union Battleground Championship. So it only makes sense that if I beat you once Danny Boy, I can beat you again.“Oh and lets be honest you and everyone else knew your number was up when I got put into this match. Daniel. I mean even your ex boyfriend who you fought so hard against to win this championship.”
Genevie let out a laugh and then a disgusted eyeroll. She sighed thinking about the predictable conversation Miles Lucky had droned on about with her shortly after the match was announced, and how Danny and Jacob might as well have been monkeys throwing shit at each other at the same time. Which she viewed as an advantage to her. Let them be motivated to kill each other and she could be motivated to actually win.
“The blood you two shed for each other, after all that. Even he knew I was going to dethrone you so fast. I mean why else would he have been fighting so hard to say I didn’t belong in this match. Didn’t hear him say anything to Jacob. Almost like he wasn’t even existing in this match. Almost like he didn’t view him as a threat to you, but me? Miles knows what I am capable of in the ring. He knows your little edgelord bitch tricks don’t work on me and everyone knows I have a few up my own sleeve.”
“I don’t back down easy and I take every opportunity that’s given to me and run with it. You are really proud of yourself right now but I know you’re tired. I know you’re beat down. Physically and Emotionally. I’m going to use that to my advantage. I’m going to make you a one and done champion. The spotlight is burning bright on you Danny and I’d wager that you aren’t going to be able to handle it. That you can’t take the burden of being a double champion and ride it on a long wave of success in the company. I think the pressure will be too much for you. I think the pressure I’m going to apply will be the first cracks in your weak foundation as champion, and I’ll make your makeshift kingdom crumble to dust.”
“Don’t think I forgot about you Jacob Kuntz. You’re just not as important to me in this match as the Champion himself. I get what you’re going for. The blood and the violence. The man that isn’t supposed to be here but just wants to cause pain and misery. If I’ve seen it once I’ve seen it a thousand times. Especially while I sat at home watching how the industry developed. It’s like one or two of you bloody and gruesome bastards has success so the rest of you start crawling out of the woodwork like the cockroaches you are, and yes I mean cockroach because it’s clear to me you are hard to kill. I’ve watched you in action. I know that much to be true but luckily for both of us I don’t have to kill you. I just have to stop you from taking a title that you were never meant to hold in the first place.”
Genevie narrowed her eyes and looked to the camera with disgust. It was time to take Union back from all these little punks and hard ass bitches who felt like the more violence the better. It was time to make Union a wrestler’s paradise again. Not home of the psychopaths.
“You want so bad to live up to the names of the spooky and gore boys that came before you in this industry. The likes of the Bryan Laughlin, Kaven Drell, and even Dakota Smith. That last one didn’t think I was capable of being as tough as him by the way, and I showed him I was capable of taking the violence and dishing it out better than even him but I’m here to tell you that you’ll never live up to that kind of hype. You’ll never know the right combination of manipulation, psychosis, and pure wrestling ability to pull off a feat like that. Allow me to help you let that reality sink in sooner, rather than later. Don’t be so disappointed you didn’t get your moment in the spotlight with just Danny. I know we all want to line up to punch the little shit but don’t worry sweetheart it still might be your lucky night at the next edition of Lights Out. I’ll make you famous as just another person who lost on Genie’s comeback tour two thousand and twenty-one edition.”
That caused a grin to come across Genevie’s face. She was feeling more confident with each passing match she had been fighting. Knowing they were warming her up for a big challenge. A Challenge just like this. The one where she would once again solidify her place amongst the greats. It was fine for them to move on. Now it was her time to show that she always adapted and evolved.
“At the end of the day boys you both have everything to lose in this match and I have everything to gain. I mean if you guys lose it will mean that you once again weren’t good enough to pull off a big one when it matters. If I lose? The world will say you know what? Genie has been gone a while. It only makes sense she came up short, but honestly I’m not comfortable to even hear that because I’ve been back now for a solid couple of months now and I have yet to lose in any competition. I don’t plan on starting now. So you may all think I don’t belong here, but honey I’m here to show you all that it is YOU that don’t belong. You all have been nothing but mere placeholders for the real Queen to step into this company and take what’s rightfully hers. What’s been waiting for her all this time. Union needs me to step up and the rest of you are just going to have to be grateful for the opportunity to stand across the ring from me and lose. Genevie Carlson is back, and I’m ready to do what I’ve always done best, make all of you my fucking bitch.”
At that moment Genevie could hear some gentle coos coming from the baby swing. She smiled at the camera and blew a kiss, as it used to be her signature sign off and quickly walked over to the child and getting him out of the swing, making a point to mention going to play with Daddy and Hadley before going to ascend the staircase leaving it to fade to black.
