Stress. It was one of those emotions everyone felt at one time or another. Some experienced high levels of stress and others moderate. If you find someone who has zero stress? Let me know because that’s as rare as a Unicorn. Stress affects us all, and as such we all have our different ways of coping with it. Some people worked out, others meditated, some people even colored, or just bird watched. There were many different outlets to relieve stress. One woman who had her own outlets was none other than Leela Watts.
We could all take a glimpse into Leela’s personal life and see it was a good reason for her to be stressed. It was no secret how she was feeling in recent weeks, and it seemed with every show things just piled on. At one point she even thought she might break under the pressure and that’s when she realized. She just needed to put her phone down, tune out the world and do something she truly loved. Baking. She had all her ingredients out in front of her to make the sugary treats she loved most. Eggs, Sugar, Flour… the typical things. As well as the mixing bowls, spoons, and cups she would need to measure everything out perfectly. Which is just what she began to do as she spoke.
“You know Maxx. Baking is one of my favorite things to do. It really helps me when I’m in my head and I think the world is ending in some dramatic fashion. You can relate I’m sure but there’s a science to baking. You have to be precise in your measurements. You have to be completely sure about the amount of each ingredient you put into the bowl or in the end? More times than not… You just come out with a mess. I mean sometimes you get lucky and it’s decent but get too cocky about that lucky time and the next time you’re left with a bitter taste in your mouth and filled with disappointment.”
Leela claps her hands together and dusts off the flour that had formed there. She wipes her hand on her apron and smiles as she looks up at the camera.
“Now you might wonder what this has anything to do with our match coming up in Union, or maybe you aren’t as dumb as you play yourself to be and have already got it. I’m hoping it’s the second because I think you’re smarter than you pretend to be, but just in case allow me to explain to the people that might not understand.”
Leela cleared her throat as she took her perfect mixture and began making balls for cookies and gently placing them evenly apart on a cookie sheet.
“You see Maxx. Wrestling is a lot like Baking. You have to be precise in your movements. You have to do your research. Keep focused on the task in front of you. You have to do everything right and if you do all that? You come out a shining star. You stand up and cheer as you hold gold above your head, or you just get a wonderful victory that nobody thought you could. Everything falls into place when you know what to do and you execute it properly. Just like a delicious cookie.”
Leela finishes with the dough and smiles as she checks the oven and makes sure that it’s at the temperature she wants it before putting the tray of cookies in the oven and closing the door. She smiles for the camera flipping her purple ponytail back behind her as she spoke again.
“No Maxx I’ll admit at times you can have your happy little accidents in baking. Where you don’t follow the recipe and in the end it somehow manages to work out anyways. Much like yours and Jason’s victory over Danny and I was at Union. A happy little accident that instead of praising yourselves for? You should be praising my ex Kaven for. Oh you got offense in? Great. It was a wrestling match. Didn’t we all manage to do that? Oh…you were kicking our butts? Pretty sure we kicked your butts too. Now here is the kicker.”
Leela grinned as she heard a timer go off. She opened up a pot on her stove as smoke billowed out of it. She coughed as she turned the heat off and brought the still steaming pot over, dumping it upside down as she tried to scrap at whatever was in there.
“You get cocky sometimes in Baking. You think that happy little accident worked out so well that one time. You know everything now. That cookie recipe says to put it on a baking sheet? Nah. You can cook it in a stove pan faster. Maxx you and Jason think We beat Danny and Leela once we can do it again, without any real thought to it. No preparation for it. Just more Star Wars jokes and claiming you aren’t going to attack our personal lives and then claiming that no I in fact do not want to tag with Danny. As you two reminisce on all those drug binges you once had… and you know what happens when you get cocky?! When you think you’re the greatest Baker alive?!”
At that moment a charred lump of what we can only assume used to be cookie dough falls out of the pan and lands with a thud on the counter.
“You end up failing..and not just a little bit. You fail miserably, and I’m sorry. This is the point in your career you’ve reached Maxx. You’ve had your highs while just winging it, and now’s your come back down to earth moment. Where just winging it won’t save you because I don’t just throw a bunch of crap into a pan and hope I get lucky. No. I measure everything out to the last detail. I focus on my opponent and analyze exactly what they are capable of and then..”
The timer dings again and Leela’s face lights up excitedly as she walks over to the oven and opens it and with oven mitted hands removes a steaming tray of chocolate chip cookies. She smells them and lets out a happy sigh. Her eyes open and she smiles at the camera
“I execute to perfection.”
Leela puts the cookies down on another counter to cool. Taking off her oven mitts and throwing them down. Her smile fades and she looks at the camera with a look that can best be described as resting bitch face.
“Maxx. You tried to say that I didn’t want to tag with Danny. That really how could I want to tag with him after everything we have been through in recent weeks? That’s just what I would expect out of a two faced liar who claims they aren’t going to make this personal in one breath and then attacks my personal life in the next. I don’t expect you to get it. That MONTHS ago I asked Danny to do this with me, and he said yes.”
“Now Maxx I have a list of achievements that extends far and wide. Wrestler of the Year Awards, Rising Star of the Year… My Championship list is just as extensive, but you know what I’ve never won? A Tag Team Championship. I know I’m just as shocked as everyone else. I’m one of the easiest people to get along with and yet.. No Tag Team. So in spite of the Girls Next Door existing and doing amazing. I looked at Danny and I saw the potential for us to do something great together. That we’ve achieved so much separate. Why can’t we achieve Tag Team Greatness together? We wouldn’t know if we didn’t try. So here we are...ready to face the world together, and I got to be honest Maxx there’s no one I want to face the world with more than Danny. No matter what our relationship status is.”
Leela was a bit sad at the thought of her and Danny not being together but she just managed to play with the burnt lump of cookie in front of her for a few seconds with a frown before snapping out of it and looking back to the camera.
“I’m not going to beat you just for me. I’m not going to do it just for Danny’s benefit. No. I’m going to beat you for BOTH OUR benefits, because our match is up first. If I lose? We don’t get a shot for those tag titles. If I lose...we have to sit and wait for another opportunity. I’m done sitting and waiting for an opportunity. I won’t do that to us. I won’t be the reason we have to lose out. No We’re still going to be in that Battalion Championship Match, and it starts with me showing you just how great in the ring I really am and there is NO ONE who is going to stop us… not you, not Jason, and more importantly Kaven won’t get in the way because Danny and I’s goal is greater and NOBODY will destroy it. So you better figure out the recipe to beat me fast because I already figured out the one to beat you..and it’s going to be a sweet...sweet..victory.”
Leela picked up one of her perfectly made cookies and took a bite with a smile as the scene faded to black.
