There's no elaborate intro or set as the camera opens up to the image of a normal white wall. For a brief moment, there's only silence, but that's soon interrupted by a clanking sound. The sound of metal being dragged along the floor and sure enough, Anastasia Hayden makes her entrance with her half of the Battalion Championships held by its strap.
"Been a minute."
She flashes a smile; an uncanny sight from Anastasia, but there's a certain pep in her step at the thought of getting to compete inside of a Union ring after so many months away. She lays her belt down and paces back-and-forth behind it for a few seconds; never breaking eye contact with the camera like a caged wolf waiting to be released before finally coming to a stop.
"But nothing's changed. That's the benefit of being the best tag team in the world. When you're gone, everyone's suddenly found their voice. They can start challenging us, they can start calling us out, but all it takes is for us to come back around just once and remind them who the fuck Lisa Seldon and Anastasia Hayden are. We aren't your run-of-the-mill tag team champions, we're two of the greatest wrestlers on this planet. So when you put our names in your mouths, make sure to add the respect we deserve because we do not forget and we do not forgive."
"And I get it, sure, it's easy to forget what we've done when we're not around, but trust me when I say we don't suddenly stop being the best in the world just because we're not here every other week to knock you lame fucks upside the head as a reminder. Whether we're here or not, it doesn't take away from the fact that we're two of the most decorated wrestlers to have ever stepped foot inside of a Union ring. Lisa's never stopped. I took it easy half of last year and still managed to do more than the rest of you here."
A shrug of the shoulders follows. There's no denying the caliber of wrestlers that Anastasia and Lisa are; so why pretend otherwise, she thought.
"Wrestlers take us for granted. And that's understandable because ignorance runs rampant in this industry, but then you get these little entitled fucks who somehow think that they're going to be the ones to take out the Hellcats. Sure, it's happened before, but it's not a story you hear very often and there's good reason for that. They'll run us down, they'll act like they'll be any different from the countless other teams we've run through, but they need us. Before I even heard of Jason Van Owen and Maxx Bennett, I was already on my way to becoming a two-time 4CW Champion. Where it actually matters, who the fuck had heard of these two before the Hellcat name was presented across from them? That's how they take us for granted."
She offers up a momentary look of disgust on her face at the mention of the disrespect.
"But I'm not being fair, am I? After all, Jason and Maxx were the rightful first number one contenders for our Battalion Championships. We sat back and waited to see whose names would stand across from us; Jason and Maxx were able to secure their spot...until they didn't. These two fought hard to get the right to challenge us, but when the pressure was turned up a notch the next show, when they had to separate...what happened to them? They crumbled and we don't have time for that."
"So, what the fuck is your excuse, Jason? Maxx? You put Leela and Danny down once before, why the fuck couldn't you do it again? They stepped right up to the plate, they saw the food you had on your plate, and they snatched it away from the both of you...and you let it happen. When given the chance to stand your ground, when you two morons had the chance to legitimize yourselves as interim champs, you collapsed. At War of the Worlds, there's no room for error, especially not when the Hellcats are standing in your path."
A stern shake of the head as if Anastasia was lecturing the two of them. And, in fairness, she is doing exactly that.
"There's not a whole lot for me to say about Maxx othan than she's exactly the type of person you'd expect with an unnecessary extra letter in their name. Close your eyes long enough and you'll envision the type of loser she is. Though, at least she's consistent in that regard. And Jason, well, one look at him is enough to realize he's the manifestation of this new breed of wrestler I've grown to hate. These wrestlers who do just enough to get by, but are never willing to actually go the extra distance to separate themselves from the pack. That's why you get Lisa and me, a team who tears through the entire wrestling industry, then you've got Maxx and Jason...who barely even exist."
Another shot of disgust from Anastasia. The concept of teams running their mouths on Twitter for the attention they crave, but never being able to put it together when it counts made her sick.
"It's all so disappointing. We're world champions, we expect the best of the best, and instead, we get a team that can barely keep it together long enough to win one match, let alone handle their shit on their own. And now we're meant to entertain the idea that Jason and Maxx will be able to replace us? How fucking dire. I get that they're already from the gutter, but I figured they'd at least be able to keep it together long enough to face us. Instead, they fucked it up, and made everything harder for themselves. That's not an issue for us, it's a tad bit annoying though."
"Union even gave you two fucks the honor of being interim champions and you've done fuck all with it. Immediately given the chance to show you were maybe going to be better than us and you ate shit on impact. Kudos to that, I guess. Yet, somehow in the grand scheme of things, I still feel like you two have a better chance than Leela Watts and Danny Rizzo. Don't get me wrong now, I know Leela, I respect her, hell, I even like her, which isn't something I say all too often, but when you come around, trying to snatch my belt from me, we've got an issue."
Without missing a beat, Anastasia starts shifting gears to the next team in the match.
"As far as I'm concerned, as much as Maxx and Jason don't deserve to be here, Leela and Danny deserve to be here even less. They're just the dogs coming to the table looking for scraps all because the two dumb fucks they lost to couldn't keep their mouths shut. I guess I could pat them on their backs for managing to make up for their first failure, but you should've never lost to begin with. Leela and Danny were lucky enough to be given a second chance and they managed to capitalize on it, great job, but once the bell rings in Chicago, there's no second chances there. It's do or die."
"And I think we're about to witness the death of Leela and Danny. It's bad enough they've got this bald weirdo involved in their goofy love triangle, but if they can't get that together for War of the Worlds, why even bother showing up at all? In fact, it might be better if you two didn't. I understand Danny did decent in Valor or something like that, that's nice, but doesn't really even register on my radar. And Leela, bless her heart, I forget that she was a world champion once upon a time. It's been years since CWC and since then, it's been an empty fucking house."
Ana sighs as she picks her Battalion Championship back up, a not-so-subtle flex following her last few words.
"Where are your heads even at? What does it say about you two that you manage to operate better apart than you do together? Tell me you're noticing the pattern too. Maxx and Jason can get the job done together; Leela and Danny can work well separately, but switch the roles of those two teams and they can't do it. The Hellcats? That's all we do. That's who the fuck we are. Like I said, there won't be any second chances in Chicago and if you two couldn't get it done the first time, what makes you think it'll be different when you add us into the mix?"
"Lisa and I have competed around the globe with the Union banner. We ran through FGA, we'll take the belts from there, and still fight here. Lisa's dominating in DTW, I slayed the monster of 4CW and have ruled over his fallen kingdom ever since. Before you four, the Zombies knocked us down, but we got right back up and took what's ours. We dominated at War of the Worlds last year when they threw an army of actual tag teams at us, so are you four going to be enough to take us down?"
One final pause from Anastasia. She went the whole session without wasting a second, but now she's crafted this silence to be filled with an answer regarding the two teams. An answer that never comes, but that's fine, because Ana has her own signature to put this to rest.
"Because the Hellcats never disappoint."
"Been a minute."
