Twenty Questions on “Guerilla Warfare” (As Answered by Tornado Desencadenado)
Q: What is it?
A Battle Royal in which the winner earns a title shot for the Union Battleground Championship at their season ending Pay Per View Coup De Grace.
Q: When is it?
A: It’s the main event at UB’s next show, on Sunday June 18, which is also named ‘Guerilla Warfare’.
Q: Where is it?
A: At the Bridegstone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Q: What are the rules of Guerrilla Warfare?
A: Two wrestlers start off. Afterwards competitors enter the ring at ninety second intervals. Eliminations occur by pinfall, submission, or knockout. Otherwise there are no rules.
Q: How many wrestlers are booked for the match?
A: Twenty
Q: Is that why you went with the ‘twenty questions’ gimmick for this promo?
A: Yep
Q: Who is scheduled to compete in Guerrilla Warfare?
A: No one knows except Axel Graves. My guess is we won’t find out until our entrance music is played in the arena.
Q: So you might not even be a part of the match?
A: Nope.
Q: Why would you want to be involved with a match with such crazy stipulations?
A: For the challenge. To be a part of history. To become Number One Contender for the UB Title. If I am picked to be in Guerrilla Warfare, it will be my first chance to earn a title shot. The match itself may be impossible to prepare for, but if I don’t get into the match I’ll be very disappointed.
Q: Who do you think will be in the match?
A: I think the big Union Battleground names have earned a spot. Emery Layton, Saint Saito, Hannah Kristiansen, even as much as I despise him Nemesis should all be there. There’s a lot of talented newcomers like Kimitsu Zombie and Jove Belane who deserve a chance at the title. Dillon Shaw too, especially given the way he was robbed of his chance to win the title at Lights Out #11. I bet besides Salvation will be there; the Society as well. Cassius Reed, Mandi Morrison, Xion-Ben Judah, Johnathan Drake…. Tweeder returned at Lights Out #12 and said he wants his belt back from Dick Devereaux, so he could be involved. And it’s rumored some non Union Battleground talent might show up as well. And, of course, my partner in Beautiful Storm, Trixie, deserves a shot.
Q: Is it fair to allow wrestlers who are not part of the Union Battleground roster to compete for its top belt?
A: Sure. That’s part of the mission statement of UB: to be a place where outsiders can come and test themselves and represent their promotion.
Q: Technically, you’re not even part of the Union Battleground roster, correct?
A: Correct. I’m a part timer representing the promotion I was part of when I first joined UB.
Q: Which was?
A: Alpha Wrestling Empire.
Q: You mentioned your tag team partner Trixie. If you do both wind up part of Guerrilla Warfare, do you plan on working together to eliminate the opposition?
A: We haven’t discussed it, but we’d be fools not to.
Q: But when the time comes, it will be every man or woman for themselves?
A: Of course.
Q: What makes you think you have a chance to win Guerrilla Warfare?
A: I’m as good an athlete as anyone. My technical skills are top notch. I may not have the experience or ring awareness, but I’m motivated. Like I said before, Guerrilla Warfare would be my first chance at competing for a title shot.
Q: Do you have any strategy in mind for the match?
A: Kind of hard to have a battle plan for a match as random and lawless as Guerrilla Warfare, which is likely the point. But if I’m called to compete... keep my head on a swivel, and be ready for anything.
Q: Let’s say you don’t win. Are there any outcomes that would still satisfy you?
A: Personally? I wouldn’t mind eliminating any or all of Salvation. Wouldn’t make up for losing the match, but keeping them getting that title shot would dull the pain some. In terms of others I’d be happy if Trixie won. Johnathan Drake too; he seems like a straight shooter. Having a fellow old AWE alum like Kimitsu Zombie win Guerrilla Warfare would be cool; even if she is a little, uh, bloodthirty.
Q: Yeah, what’s up with that? All the joshi wrestlers in UB seem crazy as shithouse rats.
A: Uh, no comment.
Q: We’re almost out of time. Any last thoughts about Guerrilla Warfare?
A: Just that I really hope I’m in it. Guerrilla Warfare is likely the biggest match Union Battleground has ever done, and the competitor in me hopes to have a role in it, even if my chances to win might be slim. I want to be part of wrestling history. Everything else is just ‘lagniappe’, a little something extra.
