I've never really got the hype behind Wolfgang or Trent Seven, because they're just good wrestlers but it was good to see them in there and good that they're getting another match out of each other. But good lord, Pete Dunne is awesome and Tyler Bate stole this show for me. The ending was a bit abrupt but I think that's what they were going for. It's clear they want Dunne to be the top heel of the UK Division and rightfully so because he's got a real sort of brattish bully-boy thing going for him, and it just works incredibly well.
I thought the crowd was good too ("lets go Jesus" "Jesus SUCKS") but that TEN chant needs to go the fuck away because even I lost count. But aside from that, it was very good. I'm just glad they paid so much attention and homage to PROGRESS and ICW, and even allowed a bit of continuity between Trent Seven and Wolfgang, letting the latter allude to their match from Fear & Loathing. I LOVE when they do stuff like that. I think they picked the best people from the UK Indy scene without being able to pick guys like Drew Galloway or Cyanide or anyone involved in World of Sport.
Anyone else catch this? Looking forward to the finals tomorrow night!
I saw it and all the matches were really good. Cant say I'm all too familiar with all involved only Dunne, Andrews and Conners but all of them made a great impression and i cant wait to see what comes next.
WWE made the right choice to make Dunne basiclaly the top heel. I watch him often on WCPW and a little bit on Rev Pro. His wrestling style and chrisma makes him a natural heel.

Got through watching the tournament today, and I was really impressed by everything especially the tone of it. It just felt British. I've been watching the UK scene now for a while and it has started a boom period for the country, from companies like ICW, Rev Pro, progress, Fight Club Pro and a few others. I'm glad as well that Pete Dunne is getting acknowledged, knowing he is from the same area of Birmingham, England as me, it's cool seeing that.
My question is where does it go from here? After the tournament what happens?

Hopefully it doesn't flounder like the Cruiserweight Division has so far.
I haven't seen if they've mentioned it already, but I'm curious as to which show it'll be on. Since RAW has the Universal, US, and Cruiserweight singles titles, will Smackdown carry the Heavyweight, IC, and UK? Only makes sense to me, but we're talking about the WWE here... So who knows.
I'm glad they're doing this though, because there is a ton of untapped talent that could really change the direction of WWE's boooooooring format (sans Smackdown)

Would it make sense to put the UK championship on NXT? rather than Smackdown or Raw. The Cruiserweight division just needs more talent. And maybe on a different day rather than being after Raw.
On raw the US title is just floundering at this point, maybe it should have went to Sami Zayn rather than Reigns. Have Zayn be the underdog.
If anything there are far too many titles to begin with and everyone just gets lost in the shuffle. It would have been better to have all champions compete on both shows.

I haven't caught it yet. I really need to since Pete Dunne and Joseph Conners are in it.
I wonder what they are going to do with the UK Championship. Maybe have a weekly show similar to 205 live... But that just seems to be overkill. This thing snuck up on all of us. I just hope that after the tournament is over, they take more care of it then they did with the Cruiserweights. Being a long time cruiserweight fan, I was so sad to see it get Vinced within one day of being on RAW.
Hopefully the UK Championship will end up being much better.
So night two was better than night one by a country mile. They managed to make stars out of Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews in only two days. Incredible. And that Dunne/Andrews match...you HAVE to check it out if you haven't already. It's absolute insanity.
As far as I'm aware they're planning on doing a show for the Network specifically shot and based in the UK, so I think we'll have a month or so of them signing all of these guys up to contracts. People like Dunne and particularly Wolfgang and Trent Seven will have loads of dates to fill. I reckon they'll have told them 'you're all getting signed. Do your dates and then we'll get sorted', much like they did with all the cruiserweights. I don't think this'll get Vince'd nearly as much as 205 Live, mostly due to the fact it'll be over here and not within the reach of Vince. I don't think he really has an interest in it either, not as much as Triple H, who just seems to be a huge fan of all things old-school.
All in all, I think I enjoyed this more than WrestleKingdom, if I'm honest. I may be biased because of my love of British wrestling but this show just meant SO much and it was done with the right amount of WWE-ness, but not too much whereby it was overbearing and overproduced. It's my show of the year so far and it's going to take a LOT to top this for me.

Apparently all wrestlers have signed contracts and WWE doesn't want to make the same mistake as the CWC tournament. Which is fantastic. It's even more great news that WWE seem to want to partner british companies like Progress and Rev Pro. From what I've read WWE announced this so that they can compete with World Of Sport Wrestling that aired over christmas time. Not sure what is happening with that.
I've heard from a couple of people that ITV have commissioned it, they're just deciding on a date and the logistics of when they start doing tapings, but having seen WOS and assuming WWE UK is of the same quality that this weekend was, I don't think there's any threat from ITV here. Theirs seemed much more like "remember wrestlers?? Look at all these gurning, grunting men!" whereas WWE UK felt like a homage to the British Indy scene and it was better researched as to what British fans enjoy.
I watched this on both nights with two friends who wouldn't stop showing their selfies with Trent Severn, Dan Maloney, Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne. I got a real earful of how they spent ages talking to Trent and Pete.
But I really enjoyed it, I wanted Mark to win, he's very cool and watching it as a fan like I always do I liked him the best, he didn't cheat or do anything mean like Pete did.

The world of Sport wasn't that bad to be honest, I think maybe the booking and a few cut scenes to where there doing backstage interviews needs changing. And maybe getting some backstage interviews from a wrestling point, not from an ITV point.
