Biography: Trey’s father was one of the most well-known and well-booked acts in the Pacific region during the 80s and 90s - Manhertz the Clown. Manhertz was trained in Mexico where luchadors never went anywhere in public without their masks. He carried on this tradition when he returned to New Zealand by never going anywhere in public without his face paint or one of his many masks, no matter what. This included grocery shopping or dropping his son off at school.
This was not a normal thing to do in New Zealand. Trey Manhertz was made fun of relentlessly over his father's profession. Not only did he dress as a clown, but he very often lost his matches in very comedic fashion.
Trey rebelled against his father more than most kids. He used the violent sport of rugby as an outlet for his anger, but after a broken tibia and fibula left him sidelined for many months, he was convinced to enter the sport he loathed - professional wrestling. Manhertz the Clown's biggest rival, Wade Gambill, convinced Trey to move to Las Vegas where Gambill ran a training camp.
Trey’s final, largest act of rebellion was eschewing his family name, instead taking on the name of his trainer - Gambill.
