Best Match: Rogan MacLean v. Emery Layton (c) - This had a lot of action in it, and tossing Dolan Farson into the mix occasionally doing something or just being around as a distraction to turn the tide was very well written. While Emery lost the belt she held onto for so long, it was a protected loss, allowing Dolan Farson to really shine as the antagonist to Emery. While it makes MacLean and Farson look a lot more heel than neutral,
Best Segment: A Shepherd and Her Flock - This was written very well and caught my attention. With the cultic front seat occupied by Salvation, where does this flock fit in? Is this a prelude to them joining Salvation? Will they be another entity entirely? If so, will this Flock clash with the zealots of Salvation? There are many questions this segment gives us and it really makes me look forward to seeing where it's going.
Best Spot: Nemesis producing a plume of flame from his hand out of nowhere to blind Kassidy. I don't know how he did it, but it adds to the creepy that is Nemesis and Salvation. It was a nice touch and easy enough to find a way to explain for realism purposes (a lighter and gunpowder or a small tube of hairspray, etc.)
Best Moment: For me, it's a tie between the end of Layton's Trench War Championship run and the Outliers joining the war against Salvation. You could really feel that moment of silence as Rogan MacLean took the Trench War Title. I admit myself to reacting the same way when I read it. Not that Rogan didn't deserve the win or anything, you just start to build this mystique in your mind about characters when they win so often - especially Em with that belt - that it's a shock when they do lose. But the Outliers joining the war against Salvation was HUGE for the other side. Salvation has been dominant for a long time now, taking everything they want with a little resistance here and there. With the undefeated Battalion Champions pitching in with the likes of Devereaux, Kassidy, and others, things are going to be very interesting over the duration of this feud.
Biggest Surprise: Rogan MacLean winning the Trench War Championship.
Biggest Upset: Viduus Morta defeating Dick Devereaux - With Devereaux having spent much of his time at the front as the lead general against Salvation, it was definitely surprising to see someone from Salvation not named Nemesis able to defeat the former Union Battleground Champion. The win helps Viduus' stock much more than the loss hurts Devereaux. The build of Salvation's dominance was certainly growing, up until the Outliers picked a side at the end of the show.
MVP: I have to give it to Dolan Farson. He was instrumental in ending the over one year long reign of Emery Layton, putting the belt on his client. You can't just assume Layton would've definitely defeated MacLean if he weren't causing distractions, but there's no doubt he distracted the Champion at the critical moment, taking her eyes off the ball and the belt away from her.
Constructive Criticism: My only real criticism with the results is that the commentators don't really feel like they have their own unique personalities. If you went through tomorrow and swapped their names in results, I'm not sure anyone would notice.
Other Notes: It was a very well written show as usual! Can't wait to see where all these stories are going, especially with War of the Worlds coming after this next Lights Out!
