It’s a rare sight to see Kimitsu Zombie’s training, but she lets the camera into an empty gym. She is in a rash guard and shorts taking a punching dummy overhead and into the ground. The practice dummy is old and tattered with the stuffing bursting out of broken seams and holes. Her ponytail jumps up and down as she puts a knee on the middle of it and hits the top with a few punches. She hops over it to pin it down with her other knee and hits a few more punches, then a few elbows. The hits become harder as if she is in a trance. The rhythm of the strikes is all that is heard in the gym as her eyes get wide and unfocused. She starts grunting with anger and suddenly she screams. Then it all stops. She rises with her eyes closed and takes a breath. She opens her eyes and looks straight ahead with a determined look in her eyes and the shot cuts.
Kimitsu now sits on a chair with a towel around her neck. A television behind her shows some highlights from the Battleground Network of the most recent matches for the War Horse Medallion. She glances back at the screen for a moment with a smirk then turns back.
“It’s all about the pressure. Every time I look at the Trench War Championship belt I can feel it mounting like a wave. Those people fighting for the medallions have me as their ultimate end goal. Stanton, Pleasure, Daniels… or Legion? Who the fuck knows anymore. All I know is that I’m looking out for them too. I’m sure it’s just like Emery Layton as she watched me destroy everything in my path to get to her. When I did the outcome was inevitable. I am the champion but I still have something to prove. Emery’s stain is still on this title. Everyone still associates it with her name. How could they not? She held it for so long and had so many challengers. I may not have ended her reign , but is it enough for people that I denied her the chance to win it back? The pressure is on to prove that it is. So I asked for anyone to come up and fight me for this title like she did. I proved that I was the better wrestler at War of the Worlds, now I need to prove that I am the better champion. So Union Battleground sets up a body in Alexander Devin. This is a shot that this man does not deserve, but I will welcome it. He will be the first to ride this wave with me into establishing a new legacy for this title. That is the legacy of Kimitsu Zombie in Union Battleground.”
Kimitsu undoes the strap tying back her hair and lets it loose around her shoulders. She shakes it loose so that it drapes around her.
“Devin may be accustomed to pressure. The pressure is on for him to succeed. Taking this title from me is not an easy task, but it would be a grand prize for Salvation. It would go a long way to further showing how dominant Salvation is in Union Battleground. Unfortunately the task is given to their least dominant member. Devlin is a man of truth so he should know how bad it is getting in this organization. He knows how ruthless the fighters are in showing their dominance. Businesses are razed to the ground, medallions are stolen, and sisters are kidnapped. We are all too quick to hurt each other physically and emotionally to get what we want. The lengths we will go to are limitless.
“Devin, you can rest easy. All I am going to do to you is show you what is really real. You claim to be a man of truth so let me tell you what the truth is before I show you. The truth is that you can not handle it. You can’t handle the reality of the situation you are in. Every time you have stepped into the ring you are met with failure. It seems the truth always goes above your head. You come to a fight each time claiming that you will use your opponent to deliver the message to the masses, but you can’t get anybody’s attention. You are only a leader to the blind that follow Salvation. Your experiences don’t make you a guru if you, yourself, can’t see what you really are. You are the worm that feeds the prey that feeds the falcon. Your greatest moment was taking Xion out. That amused me, but it’s been all downhill from there. The group is strong. Salvation has been burning a hole in Union Battleground, but when left on your own you fizzle out. How much more can you take before you break down and take your spooky ass home? This is a real reality check.”
Kimitsu walks back and puts a rope around the tattered punching dummy. She takes it out of the gym’s back door, and lays it next to a dumpster. She picks it up, and throws it in. Her hand come into focus as she takes a zippo lighter from her pockets and strikes up a flame. Kimitsu then lights up a cigarette and exhales a puff of smoke.
“I’m not one for theatrics and flash. That comes naturally for me. That’s what your words are, Devlin. They are all a smokescreen to hide your inadequacies. You won’t convince anyone to come to your ways of thinking by lying to them. You are a false prophet. You spew your bulshit turths and have always failed to carry out your promises when not surrounded by your crew. I might just look like a hot piece of ass with a dirty mouth, but when I say something in Union Battleground it holds weight.I have proved it time and time again. That is why I am have my championship and you’re left holding your dick after each match. You’ll try to convince the sheep that you are still the one to follow since you are so world traveled, and experience. You are nothing but world weary. This pressure to live up to your own words has worn you down. You know deep down that you can not handle me in this match, and it is a gift to you.”
Kimitsu flicks some ash from her cigarette into the dumpster, and leans back on the wall next to it.
“The only words they have to say to get people to tune in to Lights Out 25 are ‘Kimitsu,’ and ‘Zombie.’ So don’t worry, Devin. I’ll bring the eyes and the ears that you crave, but I will have all the attention. You get to have the experience of being the first challenger in my long reign. I’ll be damned if I let you win it on the first try. I have something to live up to and I will prove myself with this championship. I seek all the glory this will bring me and I’ll do it over your broken back. You are the first of many. Does it bother you that I am so confident? It shouldn’t because you should have some faith in yourself too. Instead of telling people what a great example to the masses you are, just shut up and show it for once. If you don’ the only thing you will use me for is to deliver the message that you are weak. You don’t want that.
“I welcome this challenge despite everything. I’m so ready to defend this title. I earned it to take on the responsibility it carries. Anyone can come for me at any time from anywhere. This is something that you simply can not take from me. You will break under the weight of this so I will break you first. The pressure here is all mine to bear. This is my challenge to win. For you? This is nothing but stress.”
Kimitsu closes the lid on the dumpster and walks away with a smirk on her face.

It’s a rare thing to be able to witness Alexander doing something other than sitting at a restaurant, or a bar, or somewhere else and being his brooding silent self for the sake of delivering his particular brand of messages to those who would listen. Right now the so called ‘Prophet’ of Union Battleground was jogging through a park in his home town of New York City, hair tied back into a ponytail, eyes glazed over but focused on the task ahead. People would pass him by, doing the same exact thing, or just walking, and nod their heads in greeting. He would do the same, wanting to be polite as possible. Sometimes he felt like people saw him as this cold hearted bastard who had no love for his fellow man. To be honest, it was quite the opposite. People only saw what they wanted to see, and thought whatever they wanted, being fed by the corporate machine and other stars who just wanted to get that one extra foot in the door to whatever goal that they had in mind. Alexander just wanted to have that taste of victory on his tongue after being in the company for this short a period.
He came to a stop, leaning up against a tree and pulling out a water bottle from his pocket, taking a generous sip of it before quietly musing to himself. There was no smile on his face, no grin. Just a man that was eager to set things to right in order to get ahead.
”I look around at my fellow competitors and wonder what it is that makes them special. What draws the crowd to them each and every time they step out onto that stage and raise their arms to the sky? What makes them the talent to reach and beat, to steal their titles away and be the best, to have that constant target on your back. Each of our champions has felt that, every night since winning said gold. They are followed by the many eyes of Union Battleground, the hungry stares of those who would want a piece of heaven, of that championship that they hold dear. I don’t need to name names, people can go right to the website or twitter and see for themselves who represents the elite of the elite in this place. It’s a place that I hope to achieve and be one day, though I didn’t expect it to be this soon. The powers that be have handed me a title match...of all things...against a ball of fire. Our Trench War champion Kimitsu Zombie.”
Alexander sniffs, shaking his head, almost in disagreement with the decision handed down.
”The powers that be must be half asleep or think that with my score, that I deserve this shot against her. I would be so inclined to disagree with them. Honestly I think someone else should have been in my spot. I haven’t delivered on my promise to be the best out there that I can be, and deliver the messages that I want to deliver. My heart is bursting with that chance, but to have to deal with this burden of facing our beloved champion on this eve is more than I can wrap my mind around. My greatest claim to fame was taking out Xion and being a part of Salvation. But if you pay attention to the twitter machine, you’ll soon come to realise that me and Salvation have parted ways. No longer will I have that ghost of a machine following me, having my ‘back’ as they so claim. I am on my own, as I have wanted to be. I realize now that having Salvation around wasn’t helping me, they were hindering me. Preventing...me from being the person that I know that I can truly be!
A man of great talent and...passion. Someone who realizes where they have faulted and wants to make up for things past. I can’t go back and win the matches of before, but I can start today on a path to the top...the right way miss Kimitsu. FOrgive me for not being as into this as you are, but I only speak the truth. I wanted to face you as a stronger person, a better person than what you see before you. You are a shining dot in this company, someone who obviously deserves to be where you are, to hold that belt with the pride that you announce to the world each and every night. But even lights need to go out once in a while, don’t you think? The stains that linger upon your soul and that belt will be wiped clean when it transfers hands to someone who will bring it to a place of even greater glory. If it isn’t me who wins it tonight, then someone will deliver it from evil.
Maybe someday you and I can face each other again as true people of justice and deliverers of messages. My message to you is...be prepared and see you soon.,”
