WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE on/off camera
Time changes everything.
What sounded like a pure clichè seemed to become a certain truth. What reached your heart one day, would lose your interest the next. All the goals you set for yourself would become pointless -- or achieved. Now the question was what would a rational person do? Or at least that was what Elena DeDraca asked herself.
Are you a rational person?
That was something she couldn’t answer. There were times when all of her decisions seemed logical, but other times she was letting her passionate nature take over. Maybe this was a female thing, or in the end it was an Elena thing.
They had been training for the past two hours without taking a real break. The Fist of Hydra had always been a hard worker. She knew what it meant to earn something, but this here was different. Every muscle in her body was burning and not for the first time he managed to get her down on the thin mat. Her shoulder was slightly numb, not to mention the bruises that were already showing.
Xabier Belazco watched her from behind the gloves as she blocked his punches. She was freezing up. Flailing under pressure to him. He slowed down his punches for her to make a move. Any move. This training was going well and he didn’t want to overwork her just yet. One punch got through her guard, and he stopped right as it tapped her cheek.
“Okay, I am really as slow.” She laughed to herself while rubbing her cheek. “I was focusing on your other hand, again.”
“It can be hard to see the whole picture. You were watching my hands. You have to look at everything. It could have told you where I was going if you expanded your sight. Here on my shoulders.” Xabier got off her, and extended his hand to pick her up.
A devilish grin formed on her face when she reached up. In the matter of seconds he was down on the mat with her, legs wrapped around him tightly. Of course that would never have worked without the element of surprise. For a moment she heard him gasping, trying to roll her over.
“You said to use whatever advantage I can get, right?”
“Good. You are now. Thinking about the kill.”
He stopped trying to escape, and felt her movement. Xabier waited for the right shift as she tightened her grip, and made his move. He broke the hooks on his body with a twist of his hips, and used his hand to throw her off him. With his own element of surprise, he threw another quick punch that stopped close to his target. He moved his hand to fix her with a grin.
“Always be ready for the kill.”
Elena rolled back to get some space. She was breathing heavier than expected but managed to sit up. For a man this muscular he was very quick, quicker than her.
“I wonder how much of this I am allowed to use in a wrestling ring. My temper might gives me an extra push, dear.”
Xabier relaxed to think about the question. It was easy to forget that they were from different worlds. He looked at his fists, then slowly opened his hands up to show her his palms.
“Maybe you can do it like this? There is always a loophole to the rules.”
El looked at him with some kind of surprise in her eyes.
“So you mean cheating… or, bending the rules a little bit.”
“What does it matter as long as you get what you want?”
Xabier watched her for any sign of protest or resistance to the idea.
“It matters to me, Xabier. I never have been good at walking the easy path. Not in nor out of the ring. I wanna earn my spot.” She slowly got up. “I have seen a lot of people wearing titles that never belonged to them. This is not the kind of fighter I am. I am rough, wild. And yes; I am a tough cunt, but I am not a cheater.”
Xabier considered her for a moment with a distant gaze, and a slight nod. She had the right temperament for a fight, but there was still some honor in her.
“I don’t mean for you to cheat. You just make the rules work for you and not against you. You can’t limit your thinking in any way to get what you really desire… if you truly desire it.”
She would sit there thinking about his words for a long while. Asking herself, what was it that Elena DeDraca did really desire.
KNOWING MEon/off camera
At a certain point everyone did leave. Elena was used to be the last one at the gym. And even though that was not her usual one, the scenario was still the same. She had said goodbye to her new trainer but remained sitting on the thin mat. Seeing herself in the huge mirror she felt tempted to stick her tongue out. Nothing about her appearance was fancy today. Just a sweaty girl in her gym attire.
Selling the dream, huh?
“The truth isn’t always pretty, right? We spend so much time to chase after a dream, portray ourselves as the cherry on top. There is no need to deny that I have done the same. Numerous times. We all wanna be seen at our best but no one is willing to lay out the worst. But what if our darkest moments decide who we truly are? Alone in our room, left with only our thoughts. I have been called a fancy talker more than once -- but I am not sure this is meant to insult me. Does the world believe that every wrestler is dumb as a piece of bread? Sure. There are some, but often enough their way with words would surprise you. I am aware it is not always easy to follow my train of thoughts, but we will get there. Anton Chase. My next opponent -- although a part of me wants to call him a victim.”
Elena grabbed the towel that rested next to her. For a moment she looked at a huge bruise on her hand. Smiling.
“I am supposed to play nice with you, dear. You obviously must have done some things right in your career. And that statement is purely based on the fact that you are contracted. Although that probably was the last good thing that happened to you. I was looking through your past matches. And while I could say that you suck balls, I will go with: You have been unlucky. On the other hand you don’t seem to be very clever about handling your own business. Your mouth is constantly writing checks that your ass can’t cash. Like a broken record you keep telling the same tale. Which would be alright if the results would go in your favour. But they don’t, Anton. You keep dragging yourself down with being unfocused, not seeing the big picture. I will give you credit for having high goals, but what have you really done to achieve them?”
She rolled her eyes before rubbing her face with the towel. The usual serious expression covering her face.
“You can hit me with your long list of title wins. I can hit you back. But why would it matter to me what you once have done? How you probably were the face of a company? The champion of champions even. What are you in Union Battleground? A no one. A footnote at best. The main question is, who you going to blame for that? Your opponents or bad booking? Or is it possible that I am right. I never have been good at pretending. I can wear a smile if the situation calls for it. But I can’t fake respect. I assure you that my life would have gone a lot smoother if that was possible. But who wants easy, huh? I want you to face yourself in the mirror, Anton, then tell me what you see. I don’t talk about your outside appearance, but what about the things we can't see?”
When she closed her eyes it seemed as if the whole scene was paused. Absolute silence. Elena licked over her lips.
“The moment you can accept yourself for who you truly are -- life becomes worth living. It is never easy at first, but eventually you will learn your place. If not before our match, then the moment I will stand above you. My smile will be the last thing you see that night. Deep in your heart you will thank me for the experience. This is war Anton. And unfortunately you are just a pawn.”
Elena winked towards the camera forming the words ‘YOU’RE WELCOME’ before the scene faded the black.

(The scene opens up inside of a local Gym somewhere in Chicago, Illinois. We see a ring set up in the middle of the room and we see that Anton Chase is in the ring. Dressed in gym gear. Anton is training with a tackling dummy. Anton slams the tackling dummy with a Suplex across the ring. As he does that Anton notices the camera crew have arrived. Anton places himself on the ground in a sitting position. )
"I have not been booked in a while for Union Underground for whatever reason that maybe. But the minute I am booked for a match I get a chance at the War Horse championship. I get a title match against Elena DeDraca who has been a fighting champion since becoming the War horse champion herself. I've been keeping up with what's going on in Union Battleground, I'm not one who just flickers in and out when I see fit."
(Anton smiles)
"Despite what people think. People are too quick to assume that because I wrestle all over the world still at 32 years old that I've must of missed or let down promotions. That's not the case at all. I know exactly where I need to be and what promotions I wrestle for. I've got a heavy schedule to keep. But it's funny that people seem to question my reasons of being in one promotion to the next. This seems to be a problem with Elena DeDraca."
(Anton still sitting inside the ring)
"You seem to think that me being contracted is the only reason why I am here. Let me tell you something Elena I was one of the first ever talent's to be here in Union Battleground. I was on the very first show. Where was you? Exactly I didn't even know you existed. I was on the first ever pay-per-view, where was you? Exactly I didn't even know you existed. And you have the nerve to question me. That's funny."
(Anton pauses)
"Your right about one thing though Elena I've been unlucky. I've been unlucky recently in UB but my desire to win and my desire to be champion has never dissolved. I still have high goals for myself. That's what true champions do. Your slowly finding that out. Let me ask you a question Elena, what exactly have you done? A few mediocre championship wins but never the face of a company. That's isn't because you're a women, that is because nobody sees you as the face of a company."
(Anton still sitting in the position)
"One thing that I am not is a victim Elena. Get that motion out of your head right now. I am one of the most hard working wrestler's in this business and yet people like you think so little. It's going to be a shock to the system that when you step in the ring with me that you find out how much I'm not a victim. How much fight I have in the tank and how much I can end the match before you can blink. Never call me a victim Elena it will be your downfall."
(Anton smiles)
"You ask what have I done in Union Battleground lately? You say I'm just a footnote. You're wrong even in those words. I am the foundation of this company. time and time again I put everything on the line , inside the ring, my reputation, and even my life. I've sacrificed more than you will ever have."
(Anton smirks)
"Elena I know exactly who I am. Always have done. I've had a few questionable moments in life but at the end of it. I will always rise above it. I will succeed in any situation whether it's inside the ring or in my personal life. You however will have the feeling of disappointment. That sick ling feeling once the dust settles and you see me as the War horse champion. It's been a long time coming."
(Anton smiles)
"It's been a long time coming and that championship has had second-tier talent holding it. But when I get my hands on it. It's gonna' have a champion more fitting to the name. It's gonna have a champion that will elevate it's worth and make everyone else want it even more. There is gonna be a chase of dreams Elena but from you, and everyone else who desires the war horse championship. I will leave Lights Out as champion you can bet on that. Elena DeDraca I'm gonna enjoy dashing your dreams and showing you that I'm not a victim, but I will soon be a war horse champion."
