Kaelan stood by the ocean shore watching the waves roll in and out off the shore. How against the rocks they crashed and for a while the water would be chaos before settling. The calm wouldn’t last long as another wave came crashing into the rocks, or another wave rolled to the shore and caused the chaos again. It pulled back in and crashed back out. There was something oddly comforting in watching the waves. She could sit there for hours and watch them. She would be at peace and could get her head on straight in spite of whatever was going on around her.
This week had been hard for her. She had been worried. Mostly about Bryan. The thought of Broken, his homicidal clown persona coming back was terrifying and made her sick. She knew he did what he had to do at times but every time he brought Broken out she worried that somehow he wouldn’t go away again. That she would lose Bryan in his quest to be the best in the world to a clown who cared more about his own agenda and causing chaos then anything else. The Warzone only added to her worry for Bryan. Eight people stepped up to face him. They all wanted to take him out. Plus DTW was coming to do the same thing. That was even more people.
It had her head swimming until she had watched Bryan come out the other side. Beaten bloody but he made it but her anxiety was still high and she needed some time to herself to get her head back on straight. Bryan wasn’t the only one who had a career. Bryan wasn’t the only one focused on being one of the best in the world. Kaelan wanted more than anything to prove she was just as good as her husband. As her friends who sat on the top of the industry. She wanted good title runs. She wanted the feeling again of a job well done like she had before when she held gold for more than five minutes and here Union was to give her that opportunity.
First match in. They knew her worth. They knew what she could accomplish. Hell after the way she performed the last time she was in Union she was a bit surprised but she got over that quickly. Replaced with determination to see it through until the end. To embrace the opportunity and to right the wrongs done to her. The time to think about Bryan was over. This was about her and no one else. So there she sat watching the waves crash and roll. Letting the comforting sounds and motions wash over her in a calming sensation. Letting a small smile appear on the corner of her lips as she began to speak.
“It’s been a while Union. Almost a year really. I didn’t know if I’d truthfully come back. To say I was embarrassed by my performance when I was here last year would be an understatement. I wanted so bad to win the Crown of the King Cobra and I let it slip through my fingers. Were their circumstances beyond my control? Yes, but I’m not going to make up excuses. It doesn’t matter if I was fully myself. If I had to make a sacrifice for the greater good. It’s in the past. In the end I lost and Mikey Svarro won and I never got to see my goal through until the end.”
Kaelan hung her head. Of course it bothered her. To have gone through the mind fuck that Viduus had done to her. Forcing her to throw the match. He didn’t have time for her to have a career when he was using her as a convenient distraction in hopes it would throw Bryan off his game. Something that had blew up in his face. Bryan had gained so much while Kaelan had lost everything. Her smile had turned a bit to a frown as she clenched her fists at her sides, as she tilted her head and took a few seconds to calm herself. She unclenched her fists and lifted her head with a look of determination in her eyes as she spoke.
“But now I’m back. Now I have a chance at redemption. A chance to be better. To show you all what I should have shown you last year. That I am capable of starting at the bottom and going through anyone and everyone to get to being at the top of this company. I’m already on the path to the top in Revival Wrestling. It’s only fitting that I come here and do the same. In spite of my failures here last time. In spite of the fact that I almost didn’t want to show my face here I came back. I couldn’t let what happened be what the Union fans thought of me in the end. I’m here to change the perception and the first impression I gave of simply not being good enough. Of letting other things get in the way. Never again.”
“Now I come back and I have no problem with starting from the bottom. I want to show everyone that whatever they throw my way it won’t be good enough. November Eighth. I step into the ring and claim one of the first of Four Horsemen Medallions and I win the first of many matches on my way to the top of this company. Where I should have been all this time. Where I let other factors fuck me out of it. I honestly hope Viduus is dead but that’s not important now. What is important is this opportunity before me and it starts with a man named Maverick.”
Kaelan had went on the hunt for facts about Maverick. She knew he was from Ireland. That was great. She loved fighting people from her home country. It seemed like Union was interested in seeing the fighting spirit of the Irish clash head to head. It was smart for the return show. Now upon looking up Maverick she admitted she couldn’t find much on the lad. It disappointed her. Maybe he was good but everything she had found just made him seem okay at best. The smile creeped on her face again. Sure he could be good but she knew she was better.
“Now Maverick I’ve been looking here and there...honestly everywhere to find things that you’ve done worth noting. I can’t remember you from anywhere. I’m sure you’ve had success here and there. Just nothing that really sticks out to anyone that matters. I see you’re running around Peak making a fool of yourself. Being Mediocre on the B minus brand while I’m about to become a Champion on the A plus show. I don’t know. Maybe we can talk about that every company I walk into I make it impossible for people not to take notice. That I don’t make the statements. That you can see my achievements, some riddled with Controversy and not know who I am. I’ve earned that. Maverick you’re a splash in a pond while I’m a tsunami in the ocean.”
“I’m not here to fill a place on the card. I want to be counted as one of the greatest Wrestlers of all time. I’m the Monster Queen and I’ve got some catching up to do to the man everyone calls the Monster King. My husband has taken over everywhere he’s stepped this year. I intend to do the same. There isn’t a company I will walk into that I won’t walk out with gold around my waist by the end of the year. Mark my words. I will live up to all the hype. I get it. Maverick is a man from my home country of Ireland. Respect for that alone but at the end of the day this is a match for a golden opportunity. There is no holding hands and time for pleasantries. This is about one of us succeeding and the other one failing and I refuse to be the one who fails.”
Kaelan truthfully knew all too well what it was like this year to come close and never quite get there. She was determined to be done with that. She was determined to finally be the one to be the victor and not the one who was defeated. Not when it counted the most. Not when opportunities as big as title opportunities were up for grabs. She was tired of being screwed over. She was tired of having a spilt second of weakness that was capitalized on.
“I’ve accomplished too much to let myself fail now. I need to redeem the way I performed in the Crown of the King Cobra tournament. I need to take that Four Horsemen Medallion and I need to go on to win the Warhorse Championship. The title that gets defended every single show. I want to run a massive Gauntlet and carry it until the right moment and then I’ll take the Trench War Championship and I’ll defeat every challenger that gets put in front of me until I feel it’s right to go for that Battalion Championship. I will reinvent the phrase Started From the Bottom..”
“When I do they will look back at this one moment. Where I started. Fighting a fellow Irishmen in Maverick. They won’t talk about how he was such a great and talented wrestler. They won’t mention the good punches he got in. If he almost made me tap. No they will simply remark him as the stepping stone. The beginning. Where I predicted everything to happen and then started out on making sure that happened. I know this journey to the top will not be easy. I’m not delusional. It would be boring to just walk up a hill. That’s why people climb mountains. For the challenge. I will overcome the mountain. Face every obstacle with more intensity and determination than the one before. I will win that Four Horsemen Medallion and go on to win the Warhorse Championship. There is no other outcome.”
Kaelan’s gaze was fixed on the waves. Her excitement for what was to come written all over her face at the way she smiled. The waves were a nice comparison to her life in the fact that things tended to be chaos most of the time. The waves hitting the rocks. Then they would settle for only a few moments before the water would crash against the rocks again. Sometimes it moved smoothly though with no real obstacles to catch. Just smooth waves washing away sand and pulling it back. Giving it moments to rest before consuming it again.
Truthfully Kaelan complained at times. She worried that the chaos would stop, but truthfully she don’t know if she could thrive without it. Like the Ocean relied on the tide and the waves to thrive. She needed the familiar feeling of the chaos to wash over her. To truly put her in her element. The challenge facing her at Union was great. The opportunity and implications of this win even greater. She couldn’t let it pass her by. It was time to be the ultimate wave. The tsunami that destroyed everything...just because it could.
This week had been hard for her. She had been worried. Mostly about Bryan. The thought of Broken, his homicidal clown persona coming back was terrifying and made her sick. She knew he did what he had to do at times but every time he brought Broken out she worried that somehow he wouldn’t go away again.
