Ever since returning to 4CW, Anastasia found a new excitement in life even if she tried muting it. She's embraced the outside world she's spent so much of her life hiding herself away from. It's liberating in a sense. And now she finds herself standing out in Ocean View Beach, just a bit outside of Norfolk. The grey overcast provided her that slice of home while Lisa could barely be seen walking about in the background, silently cursing Ana for dragging her out onto this cold beach.
"Quite a bit has changed since we last stepped foot inside a Union ring. Well, except for winning, that's still happening quite a lot. But Lisa's been on some crusade to bleed everywhere and on everyone. Me, I've wound up back in 4CW to yet again show why I am one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. All in all, we've been pretty busy in our time away, but now it's time to come back and do it all over again in Union. The first place I felt at home this year and while it was only for two matches, I developed a love for Union as we won the Battalion Championships."
The words coming out of her mouth were surprisingly genuine for someone like Anastasia Hayden. She had developed quite a fondness for Union and wanted to partake in helping it grow again.
"I made a pact with Lisa that we'd help revitalize the world of tag team wrestling and I like to believe we've done pretty well for ourselves. And you know, that's rubbed people the wrong way. While everyone else was content with sitting their asses at home and being complacent with being a big fish in a small pond, that wasn't good enough for us. We set out to travel all over in the conquest to spread the good word of the Hellcat Spangled Death Squad. It's just like any sport, when you're really, really good, people don't like that.
"Oh well."
She shrugs. Not much you can do about that.
"At this point, nothing we do should come as a surprise. We are two of the greatest wrestlers in the world. Lisa and I stand on opposite sides of the world, but we still dominate. We win, we win, and then we win some more because it's all we know how to do; it's not just a catchphrase. And when we link up, nothing fucking changes. We're the most dedicated team out there and you actually cannot prove otherwise. Every year of my career has been about improving on the year prior and even when I have a down year, we've still managed to cement our name as the greatest tag team going right now."
"And that's why everywhere we go, people want to beat us. They recognize just how fucking good we are and that kills them. They can't handle the thought that we not only dominate the wrestling world by ourselves, but as a team too. And I'm pretty damn proud of that. If you hate us, simply beat us, but they can't. They can never beat us because they too realize that they're not the Hellcats and they never will be. Try as hard as you want, but you'll never be as good as us."
Another shrug. Again, nothing you can do to change it. Her words, while arrogant, seemed to be coming from a genuine place still.
"That's why there's an open invitation to all the teams out there who want to shut us up. If you think you've got what it takes, then we welcome you to step the fuck up. And that's what we've got for ourselves here. A match that should've been decided months ago, but the Zombies couldn't help themselves to not get involved. We're no strangers to the Zombie Clan and I've enjoyed being able to beat Aoki and Kimi several times throughout my career, so it'll be really enjoyable to knock off Aoki again and Fuku too."
"Generally, I don't have a problem with the Zombies, in fact, I like them. Unfortunately, you went and pissed Lisa off, so now you've got a problem with me. And I don't like having problems because I do everything in my power to make sure I can fix problems. If that means not stopping until you two are collecting your teeth up off the mat, then so be it. You know me, I don't know how to take it easy. So let me ask you, how fucking stupid were you two to think you could just slight us without any repercussions?"
Now anything "genuine" about Anastasia was replaced by a glare and a look of contempt at the perceived disrespect.
"I've beaten so many of you fucks that I practically own you and it's my duty to put you back in line. There's no doubt how good the Zombies can be, but let's face it, you're not as good as the Hellcats. The only reason Lisa wanted to have you here in this match wasn't because she thought you'd make for credible opponents, but because she wanted to beat the piss out of you. To call you second place would be a discredit to actual second rate teams."
"No, that spot is reserved for the Dead End Friends instead. The team that we were meant to beat back in Valor a few months ago, but the Zombies had to go and fuck things up. Like I said last time we faced them, I like Benny and Zack. We spent time together wrestling in NJFC and AWE. I truly believe in my heart that they're two of the most underrated wrestlers going right now and that's a word I don't use lightly like everyone else does. The Dead End Friends are a great team...when they're not standing across from us."
Ana pops a slight smirk at that and looks back at Lisa for approval, but she's way further down the beach, trying to distance herself from her partner.
"You two could be even better if you could just branch out. If you could do what we do, then I'd say you have a fair shot at being the greatest team in the world, but you can't. I don't call you a second place team to be disrespectful, I call you that because that's what you are. You're content with it. I honestly thought that after our draw, you two would have shown a bit more fire. I thought you would've been just as pissed as us and wanted a chance to fix it. But...you didn't. You thought a draw was good enough."
"That's a sin almost as bad as the Zombies causing the draw. But maybe that changes at Guerrilla Warfare. Maybe when you watch us destroy the Zombies and you start to realize that you're next, maybe you'll step up. Or maybe not. Perhaps we're wrong about you two and when December 29th rolls around, we'll toss you right in the trash alongside the Zombies because the Battalion Championships deserve the best of the best. If you're not willing to carry that Union flag everywhere you go, why bother at all?"
A tilt of the head accompanying her rhetorical question.
"I just don't think you have that in you. And honestly, I can't fault you. It's not easy to do what we do every single week. Many tried and failed, but you know who you can always count on? Us. When there's actual competition brewing outside, the Dead End Friends don't go running toward it. When someone calls themselves the greatest tag team in the world, the Dead End Friends don't challenge them. When there's a chance to rise up and show yourselves as one of the best in the world...the Dead End Friends don't show. We do."
As her sentence trailed off, you could hear the disappointment in her voice. Always searching for a fight, Ana wants nothing, but the best.
"The Dead End Friends and the Zombies were the lifeblood of Valor, but Valor was bled dry and now there's nothing for you four to stand on anymore. Do you prove yourselves as great teams outside of the Valor bubble? Or do you just reveal yourselves as disappointments? I know you can be great, but being great just isn't good enough when it comes to the Hellcats. You need to elevate your game, you need to prove yourselves to us."
"You need to prove yourselves to us because we've shown that you can throw team after team at us and it doesn't matter how high you stack them, we knock them down every single time. We won the Battalion Championships by doing just that. And after we retain our titles, we're going to continue that trend because we're not content with standing around. The Osaka Rebels were considered the greatest team in Union, but they grew lazy. And now we're setting our own pace, how do you think you're gonna fare?"
There's a bit of silence there for everyone to reflect on. But not too long, Ana's not allowing them a moment to think they actually stand a chance.
"We're giving you this platform to showcase what you're capable of. All we ask for in return is that you deliver. And honestly, even if you do bring better than your best...it still won't be enough. You were destined to fail from the start no matter how fucking hard you tried. Guerrilla Warfare will just be about your survival. Will we allow you to leave Guerrilla Warfare the same way you came in?"
She poses another question, but it's one she already has an answer to. A smile develops as said answer runs through her mind.
"Absolutely not."
