Hey there buds! Super sad news.. I don’t have quite as long to talk to all of you as I would like to… all will be revealed soon enough !
I know things haven’t always been as all tied up as we like and okay so maybe some of it hasn’t been as fun as it could have been. But the family and I are working really really super hard to bring the word to your screens...
But first, here’s a story that’s all about the journey so far… maybe.[/i]
Not so long ago, a small caterpillar had a dream to be a beautiful butterfly. She once heard that every caterpillar had the chance to be a butterfly.
One morning, she told her dream to a little Ant. “I want to be a butterfly,” she said. “Why?” Ant asked.
“I dream of it, I always have, to make this garden more beautiful. I want to help the plants by carrying their pollen between one another. It will help them to make seeds and the seeds will make plants. I want to be a beautiful butterfly. I want to fly. And I will add beautiful color to this garden and people will love to see me.”
“Are you kidding? You’re nothing but a crawling animal. Crawling slowly is your destiny. Be yourself! Don’t dream and waste your life until the bird eats you,” wickedly, Ant laughed at Caterpillar.
Caterpillar was disappointed with Ant’s response, she was saddened by the idea of anyone not having a dream. She thought about that for just a little while and then she moved to the other leaf. That’s where she met Black Caterpillar, she told him all about her dream to be a butterfly.
“Be yourself! To dream too big will only disappoint you. I don’t have parents and nobody ever told me that I could be a butterfly. Just enjoy crawling. Don’t try anything new. Don’t try to fly. You are no butterfly. The children are afraid of you. Just be yourself. Do not change anything.” Black Caterpillar gave this advice to Caterpillar.
Caterpillar was too nice to debate Black Caterpillar, so she left him to his dreary thoughts and went about her day. She chose to avoid confrontation, as she had never been much of a fan of it. She moved to another plant and went about her hoping and dreaming. She wanted to grow to be a butterfly but when she saw herself, she saw a caterpillar. Her friends’ advice made her think that to be if she did become a butterfly, then she wasn’t being herself. She had always dreamed of helping the plants, making the garden more beautiful, and attracting children, and other people to the garden. She wanted to improve herself but on the other hand she wanted to be herself.
A green beautiful butterfly came to her. White Butterfly was curious to know why Caterpillar was sad. ”Why are you so sad?” White Butterfly asked. “I wanted to be a butterfly,” Caterpillar answered. “Why do you want to be a butterfly?” Asked the White Butterfly
Caterpillar told him all her reasons for wanting to be a butterfly and her friend's advice about ‘being true to yourself’
”Your friends are right but being a caterpillar is not enough. You should be yourself but do not kill your dream. Don’t reject the opportunity to grow. To do nothing or be passive is not to be yourself.” White Butterfly explained.
“So, can I be a beautiful butterfly?”
“I was a caterpillar but I’m a butterfly now. You have the opportunity to be a butterfly. Keep crawling and find sufficient food. Find the safe place to make chrysalis to protect yourself and wait for the process. Believe that you can be a butterfly. Believe that you can fly. Be your best self.” White Butterfly encouraged
Caterpillar.
White Butterfly’s explanation brought hope once again to Caterpillar.
“Don’t ever give up on your hopes and dreams, hold onto your belief and soon you will see. You will only grow better! Be your best self!” White Butterfly said, flying to the big tree.
Day by day, Caterpillar was crawling and eating, but she never stopped dreaming. She tried hard to save herself from the dangers of the garden. One day, when she was ready to transform, she made a protective shell and formed chrysalis. In chrysalis, she turned out to be a beautiful butterfly.
What is true for the butterfly, is true for us all. Her dream came true, She became a Monarch Butterfly. She learned to fly. She makes the garden more beautiful. She became her best self and all of the children from all around, come to see her beauty. Never give up on your dreams. Be you. Be true. Be your best self.
The End
Finally we get a visual. It wasn’t really that Indi had been hiding, it was more that she wanted you to pay attention to the story. But here she is now, glowing with her own happiness as one of the two suns in the dotted pink sky reflects on her blonde hair. Brightly coloured flowers in the overly dewy grass attract all array of creatures. But most importantly? Most significantly… an absolutely glorious monarch butterfly.
“There will always be people who tell you that you can’t. You won’t. You’re one of those people Miles and I guess that’s just how you deal with your lot in life… You sit in a dark little room and you tell the world what they can’t do. You poke and needle at people. Pretending to understand, hoping that the pigeons won’t betray you and spill your secrets into the world like a river into the ocean…
Barbs and cruelties like a most around your very self. And that has maybe worked for you, for now. For a little while, a beat in time. But not this one, not this match. It won’t work here Miles for one very simple and honest reason; I take more. Ask anyone who has stepped into the ring with me and they’ll tell you that you can’t fake it, not with me… I’m not the pretty little space cadet you can throw falsities at. Because I know.
You won’t make it in this world telling others what they can’t do and never truly pushing to find what you can. You will not be the one who decides my fate, destiny had her fingers curled around me on her palm, long before you found your way into this world… I’m not like you Miles. I don’t stumble through that in desperate search of stimulation. I was born into it.”
Extending her hand, she gently coaxes the butterfly onto her fingers, eyes half closed as she lets the delicate breeze from the beat of the butterfly's sprawling wings on her cheek.
“You will tell me to crawl, that I can never learn to fly. You will hope to grind my light into your darkness so that you can pretend we are all just like you.
She knows you Miles, she has been watching you for a while now and she sees the way you pretend, she hears the lies you tell yourself and she pulls the whispers from your memory. We have seen the way you try to hide the mask behind the mask, thinking that denial of any vanity will make you higher or better, that if there is no distraction from your word. Spoken or written. It will have more impact but all the while, knowing that there is not a single ounce of true merit in the words you say.
But hey, it’s okay bud! Because she also knows that one day you’re going to see, you’re going to accept your destiny and then? Then you don’t be telling what we can’t, what we aren’t. Then you’ll understand and you’ll see your path.
But not today. Not at the show. Right now you’re on my path; you don’t belong on it and I don’t know how you got here, I don’t know why I was pushed aside AGAIN. But I have faith, I have belief. I have so much on my side.”
Opening her eyes again, Indi seems to study the butterfly as she hums a pretty little song to it. The lush green garden is truly a testament to all the beauty that exists in her world, the exotic natural landscape of wherever the galactic princess has decided to be. What a treat for the rest of you, to even see this land.
“While you have dry wit and a sanctimonious attitude, I have a life blood of skill bred into my muscle memory. You aren’t here to tell ME what I can’t do, you’re here to question your own limitations and I will push you so close to the beyond that perhaps you will forget you ever had them.
But haha hey bud, don’t worry. Cause we’re gonna have some fun.
Or else.”
