This was it. The match Kaelan had been waiting for, for such a long time. A match that felt like a true challenge of not only her skill, but the lengths in which she would go to make her dreams come true. To be able to put her name alongside the best of the best. Even more so she could prove she was truly fearless and she couldn’t think of a more perfect place to do it than in front of her hometown. She knew the stakes. She knew her opponent in Kaven Drell wouldn’t be easy. Kaelan knew losing wasn’t an option. She had picked the Inferno Match stipulation for that reason. Either she was going to be a hero and slay the beast of The Battleground that was Kaven Drell or she was going to die a Warrior’s Death.
Kaelan hadnt been home in a long time. It was always weird to come home, for the first couple of days herMa usually fused over her and how she didn’t come home enough and then things would calm down and Kaelan could spend time catching up with the family. Now it was night and it was just her time. Her time to be alone with her thoughts. She sat in the backyard starting into a small fire she had built for herself. The air wasn’t that chilly but.. she had been thinking about fire a lot lately and felt the more she looked at it, came close to it, touched it. The less fearful she would be of it when she faced Kaven in the Inferno. She held her hands over the fire and let the flames stay just below her finger tips as she began to speak.
“This is the place it all began. It’s only fitting that this is where it ends too. I don’t just mean my career. I don’t just mean the place I grew up. Where people expected me to never amount to nothing but someone’s dutiful little housewife. No. This. This is where the story of Kaven Drell verses Kaelan Laughlin truly began. You see Kaven was but a mere blip on my radar when all this began. The Trench Warfare Champion that eventually I was planning to dethrone. Another battle. Another means to an end. Eventually. I was fully prepared to defend my Warhorse Championship for a long time before cashing in on ole Kaven.”
Kaelan smirked wickedly and the flames illuminated her face I almost a sinister glimmer against the contrast of the night.
“Then a couple of things happened. Anna Daniels almost beat him, and he came for my family. My niece no less. Took her favorite doll and taunted me with it. That was your mistake Kaven. You came for my family and my mistake was almost waiting to long to be the one to put you down. It’s not easy to go undefeated Kaven and you’ve made a name for yourself here being undefeated. I knew there was only one person who could take you down. To give you that one blemish on your record. I knew it was going to be and I almost let it be someone else. That’s my doing. It’s time to fix it.”
Kaelan sat back down next to the fire with a sigh. Picking up a stick, she began to poke and prod at the logs to stoke the fire and make the flames fly higher ino the sky.
“The Warrior Queen’s next battle begins this weekend in her hometown of Belfast, but as I’ve said before I didn’t start out this way. I wasn’t the Warrior Queen. I was just Kaelan Price, but even that meant something more. Because see in Belfast people know there’s one name you do not fuck with and that name is Price. I may have not been the one that seen that reputation through but Price blood runs through my veins and I’m going to show you Kaven just what that means. It means when everyone is ready to count me out. When everyone thinks I’m going to lay down and accept defeat I rise back up and I DESTROY my enemies. You should have left my family alone Kaven. You should have just kept this between you and me, but you made it about blood. So now I have to show you why you don’t walk into Belfast and fuck with a Price.”
“I said I was going to come into this place and start from the bottom and work my way back to the top. I said I was here to redeem myself from my shite performance in the Crown of the King Cobra contest. I didn’t want to rise to the top by fighting all the mediocre competiton. Just the faceless people that wouldn’t matter by the next show. In order to be the Warrior Queen I want to be? I have to conquer the best of the best. I have to beat them at their own game. There’s no one with more credibility to their name in the Battleground than you Kaven Drell. There’s no one I need to conquer more than you. You spend every minute telling everyone how you’re going to Burn it All Down. You’ll cleanse everyone’s souls with fire and so far you’ve been successful in that. Every single person has fallen and come out worse for wear in the end. Not this time Kaven. I’ve already been through everything meant to tear me apart and have come out the other side stronger. There’s nothing you can do.”
Kaelan pulled the stick from the flames and watched as the tip of it burned with a small flame that began to engulf the stick and the flame moved up closer and closer towards her hand holding it. She broke her gaze from the stick to look back at the camera.
“I’ve fought my husband more than once in deathmatches. I’ve nearly died for this business, I’ve even lost a child. I’ve bled. I have scars all over my body. Inside and out and you think somehow you’re going to throw me into flames and think I’ll lay down and die?! I don’t think so. You’ve hurt so many people Kaven with your preaching. Your gospel of lies. It’s about time Karma comes back around to give you what you deserve. It’s about time that I rise up and show you The Warrior I already am. The one I’ve been. The one that doesn’t need your gospel and storybook rhymes to destroy you. You aren’t a God. In the end you’re just a man, and your ego is starting to show as your pedestal rises I see the cracks starting to form in it. With each opponent that comes more and more chips away. It’s time to Burn it All Down.”
The burning stick had reached her hand and before the flame touched her she threw it into the fire. She turned away from the fire and let it light up behind her as a backdrop as her eyes narrowed and she glared at the camera.
“Listen good Kaven Drell. I’m going to leave you nothing more than a hollow burned shell of a man when I’m done with you. I’m going to make it so that everything you love and care for can’t love you back. That precious sweet angel Eleanor who I held in my arms while her mother bled out at my feet from my hand won’t know who you are. She’ll see your burned flesh and she’ll scream and cry in fear. You’ll never hold her and play with her the same way again.”
“Oh and then there’s Leela. You think you’ve got the perfect life. That you’ve got the perfect sweet thing of a woman who looks up at you as if the sun and stars revolve around you. The next time she sees your face she’ll turn away in disgust. She’ll walk to Danny and hide her face away from you and she’ll ride off into the sunset with him and leave you behind. You’ll be left empty and alone. I’ll show everyone the Monster of a Man that is Kaven Drell is nothing more than a Scared Little Boy waiting for his neglectful Ma to come back and read him a shitty bedtime story.”
Kaelan laughed at the thought. Her head tilting back as her whole frame was just illuminated by the flames behind her. She then looked back at the camera the wicked smirk never leaving her first
“There’s no what ifs in this situation Kaven. There’s no outcome where I see myself losing. I know the stakes. I set the stipulation. If I didn’t know what I was getting into? I wouldn’t have laid down the challenge at your feet. It’s going to be great to show you and everyone who doubted I’d reach this level just how much I’ve grown. How much I evolved. This battle is going to be the one people look back on and say was the defining moment for my time in Union Battleground. I’m going to take your child, your baby momma, your girlfriend, and last but not least I’m going to take your title and your opportunity to rise anymore in this company. You will fall and I will be the one to see to it that your perfect little world turns to nothing more than a pile of ash..”
Kaelan picked up a bucket of water next to her dumped it on the fire. Watching it instantly die. Leaving behind burnt logs and ash. Leaving the scene to go completely to black
