I’d like to do fully written results because you all deserve it, but since all the staff people I had last season are gone, it’s been a bear writing matches, doing graphics, updating the site, and all that and trying to get it all out on time.
I feel like it’s gotta be one or the other; a smaller show for it to fully written or summarized,
That’s one big thing I want to improve on is on-time results. I’m 0 for 21 right now lol.
I think a smaller show because there's still the option to tell stories within matches. Plus it makes Union stand out a bit because so many feds do summaries and a lot of those feds are no RP. So Union has the RPs hybrid thing with some results. Perhapsthere could be a word limit thing?
Main event is 1000 the next one is 800 the rest 600
just example figures so that everyone knows how much a match will be roughly and might encourage people to write more. I used to think matches were 4000 words odd and I didn't know how to write them which put me off writing them. Some feds have 1000 words with entrances minimum so it makes it less daunting

I try to get every match around the 1500 word mark, and that’s everything included... entrances, commentary, etc. It’s kind of my fault, but I usually would wait until both handlers RPed, and judging on how much better one person wrote than the other, I would write the match based around that. And then I’d had like 5-8 matches to write up in like 2 days lol. But I’ve got a few ideas in mind to help myself get things in order and on track.
Originally when I first opened this place, the idea was that the show was an hour long (like Lucha Underground) and we’d only have 3-4 matches and 3-4 segments. But we kinda blew up with applications (I went back and seen we had 87 applications sent in last season!!!) and started adding more and more matches. At first it wasn’t so bad because I would have at least one other designated staff member, but I went through 5 people throughout, and they’re all no longer with us.
But my theory too, is if we went with less matches, we could and should emphasize segments more, and really bring these characters to life.

Just some of my thoughts.
I always like that style of match writing. It's my favourite type. When you draw from our writing, it makes our writing more than just a scoresheet thing but like a source material and we get to have some little input. My suggestion is, because I've been in a fed for a year who do this style and they make the staff have a good couple of days for their writing. They too work on the Lucha Underground style, they sometimes take your CD parts of your rp and rewrite them in a theatrical format so you're writing is added as prelude to the shows. They have a lot to do basically so they give themselves a lot of time instead of what they quote as "two days of doom writing".
I would suggest more time to write the shows, which does mean it costs RP time. But in my season finale RP I lost my rp and rewrote I think 1100 in around 35 minutes, it isn't about the word quantity either so you don't have to hit 1500 words in rps so it might be something to cut the RP time down for results writing time to be stretched.
Another thing that fed has, is you're able to send in match spots. Or match scripts (done by the people who were training in pro wrestling I believe) so we regulars said "I'd like Trixie to hit this, Trixie could maybe do this" and my opponent sent in theirs where the scripts were more of a rough guide of how to do the match, spots needed to hit, important kick outs and stuff. But if you just did match spots, it takes away some of the thinking? I have done a very small amount of matches to practice and the hardest part I found is making things work on my own and when people gave me stuff to do I did better work. So I'd suggest maybe encouraging match spots each cycle. I know Seattle Pro have you send in 5 sequences which is really unique. Why not have match spots?
Segments I would totally recommend, I do need the practice on segments myself because they are quite important but I always fall flat on what makes a good segment and stuff but I'd agree to put more emphasis on segments.

That’s a pretty solid idea of suggesting some match spots. And I’ve talked with other fedheads about the timing of writing the show, and one had a RP deadline a week before the show was posted. But they were a monthly scheduled fed, so I don’t know if I could squeeze that much time, but maybe 3-3 1/2 days? I don’t know that’s something I’m still looking over.

Also love the idea of sending in match spots. An old fed I was in used to have a rubric sent through each week. It had things like special spots, character thoughts going into the match, things like that.
1. I would agree in moving the deadline up to get more time to get the results written since we are only a 1 RP @ 1500 words max per RPer limit.
2. Why not do 5 matches? The 1st can be a summarized "dark match" for newcomers and then then the actual show starts and could be the four matches with emphasis on segments and stories?
3. I like the spot ideas too just have to minimize them or else it'll be a spot fest headache for writers when sometimes you write with the flow of the match you invision, but like 2-3 to plug in for each opponent/team would be good and maybe 4-5 per opponent/team for PPVs cause that's where you want to keep the craziest spots for!

I’ve pondered on that dark match idea for new hires too. I felt like last season we got burnt quite a bit by people who’d come in for a match or two then just disappear. I think that dark match idea could weed out who’s actually gonna stay and we can then invest more time in.

Smaller shows with segments.
Bluntly, if anyone complains, they can write more matches. I've seen too many feds burn out from owners having too big a roster and trying to write for all of them.
I'm new, but I agree with everything that has been stated thus far. 3-5 match card with fully written results. Keep it tight, like an episode of LU or NXT. Mind you, in those shows, not EVERY person on the roster wrestles or even appears in a segment. And again, as said above me, if a handler REALLY wants more matches, then they can volunteer to write matches or, in the same vein, if they want their characters to wrestle on every show, they can write their own matches.
HOWEVER, and I'm not sure how things are done here, but one of the matches can be a multi-person cluster fuck sort of like what TNA do with the X-Division every episode ...or what WWE did with the Hardcore division. Okay, now I'm just brainstorming here and maybe the following stuff will belong in the suggestion thread, but perhaps there can be another prize or something that gives reason to have multi-person cluster matches more often. Like a hardcore title with its own rules, an X-division like title that feature multi-person matches or, what I saw once, have a MITB-like reward, but it is only for new folks. When there is a period where there are a lot of new folks, you put this pass for a title shot of some kind on the line in a multi-person match. The person that wins has a small window to cash it in (like three or five episodes) and once it is cashed and you have a bunch more new people, you put it on the line again.
My point is that there can be ways to day less matches, but find ways to get more people on the card AND for it to have some kind of purpose.

I like where your heads at, and it’s like you can see into the future lol. I have a couple ideas in mind to keep things interesting. But I love the suggestion anyhow.
